The winning bidder, an Italian ebay user registered for 4 years, but with zero feedback, was someone called "stellina1940".
However, some time between winning the auction a couple of hours ago and now, they've become "Not a registered user"
In light of this, I suspect a second chance offer will be made to RareBob, but since Bob was the only bidder from about $300 dollars up, it might be better to let this one get relisted and take your chances second time around.
I was pleased that my prediction of a price in excess of $500 was correct - however if the auction has been tampered with, then that's a somewhat falsely inflated price.
(NB I want to make it quite clear that I'm not accusing jroc or anyone connected with him of any wrongdoing - I'm sure he will be able to shed some light on this mysterious situation)

and if anything does happen it would be bob's choice of what he wanted to do before relisting. if it is a fake bid, it is rightfully his.

oh, forgot - it costs money to use, so someone had to pay to screw with it (provided no one pays tomorrow, it's night in italy, we don't know it's a phony bid just yet)
so that's the odd part, why pay?

this figure? Wow, that is an incredible price.
Shame to hear there may have been false bidding going on... Regardless it seems
rarebob was very committed to getting this item.
The listing of other Jotun Troll's is very entertaining. It is somewhat predictable
though, these patterns have emerged before with MIMP listings being priced
high because non collectors have no idea what is 'presumed' rare and what isn't.
It was a hope that the publicity may have unearthed 'real' Pink Jotun Trolls.
I guess we can all wait and see.

we don't know it's a phony bid just yet
Given that they're no longer a registered user, I'm going to stick my neck out and say that its 100% phony. The whole thing screams dodgy to me, I wouldn't touch that buyer with a bargepole. Even if they sent payment I'd be inclined to pull the plug on the whole deal.
The good news is that because the buyer is unregistered, you can open a dispute and get your final value fee credit instantly.

Oh, and of course, it's another US lot with the "US-specific" board game figures too... still not convinced that they're country-specific, yet?

listings being priced high because non collectors have no idea what is 'presumed'
rare and what isn't."
My statement was misinterpreted... Non collectors would have no idea 'prior' to
the listing of Monsters that fetch high prices. This is where the confusion begins
because people may not realize it is for particular sculpt/colour combination's.
This is why sometimes I feel we have seen pretty common figures listed for large
prices. The listing of another Jotun Troll is obviously in light of the recent auction.
I don't think the person should be shot down for thinking they were holding on to
a bit of treasure though. What if the case was another genuine Pink Jotun Troll!
It is also important to note that the starting bid was set to low. This is a case of
wrong identification that new auction the figure is very clearly shown. Nicely
pointed out Strontium Dog about the premium figures in the new auction!
This person definitely doesn't know their MIMP. Perhaps the change of account
was to prevent them being hounded with further allegations.

I guess I must have missed something you posted, the last thing I remember is this:
I got a set of these so-called UK board game premiums from somebody in the US who originally owned the game... Doctor Dew, I think it was. Some old member here I'd known before.
Don't think they're country-exclusive at all.

The seller already ended that lot (and replaced it with another listing - instead of just editing their original listing). Very odd. Does anyone have any idea why they would have done that?
Deservedly so:http://www.littlerubberguys.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29589

In addition to the threads listed above, I also know several eBay collectors who will no longer sell to Italy because the packages they sent were always "lost" and supposedly weren't received. In defense of Italian eBay buyers, though, Italy does seem to have one of the worst postal systems in the world.
I'm definitely not impugning the entire nation of Italy and everyone in it. It's merely a case of a couple bad individuals.
Interesting: I've never heard of "sniping software" before.
How can you tell when somebody has used such sniping software?
Sniping software has been around on ebay for many many years. It's about a common as any real bid.

there was another italian bidder, that's all i know. whatever, guess soupy was right.
Hi guys,
I write on this tread also if I don't make it often cause, you know, I'm not very good english speaker and writer.
Anyway looking at the auction I've taken part too... and reading on this tread what you saying about Italian people, collectors, buyers and so on, I felt to say something.
I wanted the pink Troll so much too and I'm happy that Rarebob got it!! Very good collector's home I think
Sometime I've seen in WWW.EBAY.IT some registered users apper to be registered in Italy but shipping place setted in other part of world... so it's possible that user is not true and it is from another part of world.
A lot of these users often comes from Hong Kong, because if you buy an object and then you look at shipping place on the packet it is often signed from HK.
This just for say on Ebay (I'm a member of since 2004) could happen a lot of things.
That's all and thanks for attentions.
I'm sorry for Jroc79 that he has not received the correct payment he was waiting for
A special Thanks to Soupie... great thinking of Italian MIMPers

Jroc could clear that up by posting the information on the false bidder (name/address) as he will have automatically received that upon the auction ending.

99.9% of my experiences with eBay have involved buying, not selling. Thus, I have to ask: "Are you sure? When somebody wins an eBay item, the seller automatically receives the buyer's name & address?" If so, I haven't heard a peep from Jroc79 about this yet.
Yes, I am certain. You get the buyer's name and shipping address in an eBay-generated email with the title "Your eBay item sold!".

Interesting. Even if it were a fake name and/or address, I'm surprised that Jroc79 didn't mention this information.
"Curiouser and curiouser."
To be fair he doesnt really need to, if he wishes to share that info thats upto him.

Thank you! & your english is fine, not thing wrong with it at all.
Just to clarify: I don't think that Jroc79 is obligated to share the name and address of the "winning" bidder - I'm merely surprised that he hasn't mentioned having such information.

This is no fake account and I don't registered yesterday to make that post. I read in the last days, and found this thread so I thought I can bring some light in that issue for you.
I also have no problem with Fede and like him and his afford to collect mimps and share infos about that toyline. Furthermore I don't judge him to do anything in this case. Just found it interesting, thats all.
