Hi all,

I know that most of you aren't big fans of the Wrestler series, I quite liked them but then again I was in year 4 or 5 of school when they came out and everyone had them.

Anyway I won this lot on ebay last night and it appears that three of the kelloggs ones are in alternative colours not seen before. Another collector had asked the seller if they were paint jobs but they apparently aren't. If this is the case, has anyone seem them before?

I've attached the auction photo but when they arrive I'll take better photos and upload them. But if this is the case, do you think there are alternatives for the 9 issued with frosties? I'd find it hard to imagine tony the tiger in blue for example, it would be really odd:-D But the three in the photo are numbers 1, 2 and 3 so maybe there was an offer for those three only, or in 3s?

Lastly I was wondering if they were a promotion with the wrestler magazine that they released at the same time.

Any thoughts would be great as I've never see any in these colours before at all and if they are legit, its something new thats been found:)

Hi Karl,

In the picture there is one like a court jester tow row near middle (Jester Minute) his skin tone is paler in the more common version, theres Iron Mighty (the one with skin tones and yellow apparel, second row to the right) his normal version is brown skin and sort of turquoise clothing. The last one is Brad the Barbarian and theres two of him in the picture on the top row, the one on the left hes got black clothes and pale skin, the second version on the right hes got on a purple/blue sort of colour clothing and skin tone looks slightly darker.

So far I've come up with nothing, and another big collector of the wrestler line has never seen one before. On the kelloggs frosties cereal boxes they showed only the normal colour versions so its all unknown.

Well I got them in the post today and they are quite interesting.

Firstly they have no wrestler number on their feet, but they all have copyright 1995 Meg on their other foot.

Brad the Barbarian is hard rubber like the dinosaurs type, but the other two are normal wrestler type rubber.

I've taken a couple of photos and put it here for people to see. Maybe they are customs or something? The paint on jester minute isnt done as well as the normal one and hes not got fully painted boots, only the tops of each, iron mighty's teeth are more defined. Brads paint is virtually the same as the usual one, over painted details etc. I did try to take one of the feet but it did't come out very well so haven't put it in the post

What are ways of working out a custom? Are there some things to look out for like odd mold lines or such? The seller doesn't look much like a mimp collector, more of a seller of random toys and stuff.

Just a thought - perhaps they came with the blind-packed Monster Wrestler Pogs? Think that was the only place you could get the other alt-coloured Wrestlers, so that could be where they came from. Possibly.

Could do, though I've never seen them before and I've got all the wrestler figures that have been shown it seems. These don't have the number on the foot, ie W1, W2 etc, its a blank foot underneath

What a terrific find. I think it's definitely significant that these are three Kelloggs wrestlers.

Could it be that they originally planned to do alt-colours of all the Kelloggs ones as they did with the later ones, but shelved the idea for some reason?

Cool, maybe they are some unfinished type, but I'm still not 100% sure if they aren't some copy but its pretty nifty if they are genuine :)

The skin colour I don't think is similar to any of the other normal colours though, and theres failt flash on the iron mighty ones inside foot area but its not anything like the flash on mexican mimp figures for example.

I like them anyway, even if they are customs or genuine they are a little bit different :) Maybe they did want to do different colours, but its odd as the promotion for the wrestlers was a lot when you think of it, I've seen magazines, puzzles, annuals, sticker books, posters, hell even a soap bar based on it so maybe they overspent and pulled the plug on this idea? Too bad its likely that if someone where to get in contact with MEG they'd not likely have anyone who worked on them around anymore as it was 16 years ago.

I think they're the real deal, the paint apps look authentic, the detail is spot on and the copyright is intact. I back Aikola up on this one, I think they're test shots which never made it to full production.

The only other possibilities I could see is that they're from some licensed foreign release, or they came from some other promotional giveaway deal. Did the seller not give any clues as to where they came from?

To be honest with you I didn't contact the seller, except a cheeky offer when they first went up which was declined due to someone having bidded by the time they replied.

But I know another guy who was after them and he had messaged them asking if they were painted by them and they said no. The other stuff is a mixed bag with then, some kelloggs wrestlers, some of the alternative colours of the other ones, and some frosties tony the tiger things so its not like they all came from the same place.

I'll send them a message though and see what they come up with and post it here when they do:)

Seller replied, they got them from a carboot sale within the last two weeks. I'm not sure where they are from though - no return address on the jiffy bag when they came and I can't find their address on the paypal receipt.

Edit: They sent me another message, they said that theres a main kelloggs factory near to the carboots in Stretford where they live, so maybe they originated from there?

I think this backs up that they could be protos especially as they dont even have numbers, at first i was like whats he on about as i was looking at the pic on my phone, i think its a great find.

Hell yes, that's Kelloggs UK head office there in Manchester and a massive factory too, they make all the cornflakes there. The prototype theory is looking more and more likely.

Thats great then:) I'm waiting on the seller to get back to me again, by all accounts they know someone but they moved away so when they get any info back they are going to drop me a line so fingers crossed. Whenever I hear back I'll put up what they say as anything about these is useful I think.
