Quite the title length, eh?
At any rate, on to the review!
I picked this figure up about a week or so ago. I never got a chance to see the box-art, as I bought him loose at my local comic shop. He was staring at me from their display case with a $14.99 price tag and I couldn't say no.
Why? Because I love dinosaurs, and when you combine other dinosaurs to make a giant robot that's just awesome.
The figure itself has three different modes and I will talk about them separately.

Pretty obvious what this is. But there are FIVE dinosaurs, which I loved. There is the Ankylosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Pachycephalosaurus, "Spinosaurus", and finally Grimstone himself, the Triceratops. Three things that irked me here:
1) The "spinosaurus" is actually a dimetrodon. There is a glaring difference between the two and as a dinosaur nerd, this bothered me. They're losing points for that.
2) All of the dinosaurs are herbivores, except for the dimetrodon. Just seems weird to lump a predator in with the prey.
3) Only Grimstone has articulation. All four dinobots are complete statues with the exception of the the arms on the Pachy and Para, and Dimetrodons mouth. Boring, right?

Grimstone transforms into two different robots, but we'll get to that in a second. His first transformation on his own isn't all that cool or anything to gawk at. I feel like this was sort-of an after-thought. A what-if scenario. (What if his dinobros aren't around?) The hands are half-assed but the rest of him looks cool.

YESSSSS. This is the ultimate in cool! All five figures combine to make a giant dinosaur-robot killing machine. Looking at the dinos separately, you'd think they would combine and Grimstone would take advantage of their big arsenal of lasers/cannons, right? NOPE. The Para turns itself into a giant claw, and the dimetrodon becomes a hand-held biting machine. Unfortunately, the Anky and Pachy are left to be the feet, and essentially do little to add to the fighting prowess of this new robot. They're both sturdy dinosaurs though, so I think they did a good job picking those two as feet. (Everybody needs a good foundation, right?)
This begs the question: Is Grimstone worth it? Well, at $14.99 I paid, I have to say yes. He isn't available in stores any longer, or at least not the big box retailers, so you need to turn to Ebay. This might make it an expensive toy, but he looks great on my shelf. Apart, Grimstone's counterparts suffer from no or poor articulation, and Grimstone himself suffers from a bit of poor attention to detailing. However, when all five are combined the figure is spectacular and towers over everything else on the toy shelf!

Hopefully this review wasn't TOO long. I had a lot of stuff to cover, and I didn't want to miss a thing.
Thanks for reading!
