I'm a younger member than most of you guys on this board, so Transformers for me was all about Beast Wars growing up. So I have many fond memories of the toys as a kid. At any rate, this is what has inspired me to start this review, and more to come!

On with the review:

DINOBOT. What an awesome figure he is. He was a regular on the show, and an awesome character with an awesome beast mode. Dinobot switches from being a robot, into a velociraptor! He was also a turn cloak in the show who originated as a Predacon and eventually migrated over to the Maximals. (Maximals=autobots and predacons=decepticons for those that don't know).

His figure is just as awesome!

The part I've always loved about the beasties, (Canada re-named it due to having "wars" in the title), was that the figures always hid their weapons so cleverly. You can probably obviously tell by the photo that his tail detaches, but it otherwise looks like, well, a tail.

Split it apart, and you have a sword. BUT:

You can separate the two into a rotary fan-blade thing AND a sword. Two weapons? Yes please! As if the two weapons wasn't awesome enough, he is one of the few characters in the entire toy-line that has a head and a mask that covers that head. Here is his standard head:

(Ignore the crappy quality, I'm using an Iphone ok guys?!)

And finally, the finished product!

He stands at a decent height and is a faithful reproduction of his TV-show counter-part. His parts are tough, and he can easily hold up his own weight without wobbling or any sort of collapsing. (Unless he has really worn ball-joints or is posed poorly). He has an above-average amount of accessories for most beasties, (most usually have one weapon). I've only got four problems with this figure, actually, and they're not even that big of an issue.

1 - His dinosaur feet are just plain weird.

2 - His hands are webbed. I understand it prevents the fingers from breaking easily but it's kinda silly on a raptor.

3 - His robot legs are very obviously hanging off of his chest. It's the only thing about this figure that isn't really that well done, but they attempted to mask it well.

4 - His price. He's a fan-favourite kinda dealio and so he commands a pretty hefty price-tag at around $30ish bucks a go on Ebay.

Ebay is about the only place to get these things on a regular basis. Here is one such auction:

Thankfully, Beast Wars figures are relatively recent comparatively to other Transformers lines so it's very likely you'll find them at yard sales and flea markets. One thing to especially watch out for though is the missing mask pieces. They can pop off easily enough and frequently you'll find "complete" dinobots missing their masks.

Above all, this is a very solid figure and a very fun transformer. Definitely a welcome figure in any collection!

Thanks for reading!

Beast Wars came out during a time I was too old for toys...well, at least that's what society said. I remember loving the show and watching it every morning. My two younger brothers actually asked for amny Beast Wars figures for Christmas, but never got any! Damn, and I was hoping to snatch 'em up when no one was around. Nowadays alotta Beast Wars seem "dated"...yet...still very fun as toys you can actually play with. A lot of fans complain about this guy being a bit ugly (okay, true), but he is a fun toy!
