I thought I would go a different route instead of reviewing a toy.  Here we have "Collecting Monster Toys" (with pricing guide)by John Marshal.

The author apparently is/was a collectibles expert. I say "was" because this book was published in 1999.

The book is broken up into 6 chapters

With each chapter having a mostly text opening talking about toy manufactures or and general toy culture that would make production of these toys marketable.

But the true glut of the book consist of pictures. With a small blurb about the toy featured in that particular pic.

If you're looking for LRG friendly toys, they are not the main focus of this book.  But that's not to say that they don't pop up every few pages.

With this book being published almost 15 years ago, most of the prices are pretty outdated.  I do find it more interesting to find a quoted price that still seems relevant today when one pops up, though.

All in all it's not a bad book, at the very least it's a decent reference book filled with plenty of color photos. I don't know if I can recommend paying more than $25.00 for this book, but I would jump at the chance  if I saw it at half the price.

Sadly I don't know if I've ever seen it at that price.

Funny you post this. This book is currently sitting on my shelf and it's been years since I even opened it. I was just thinking the other day how I should go through it again one of these days. I also have his book "Action Figures of the 1980s" which I remember also having some good stuff in it.
