And to think, I was worried people would use my holiday before I finished my picture, so I stuffed around for a month and a half deciding which holiday was most unlikely to be used - everyone chose christmas! lol

Ah well, I didn't wind up using the holiday I was going to use anyway, I had a flash of inspiration whilst taking a sunday nap and chose sunday instead.

Once again the quality of all the pieces was terrific. I'm not going to heap individual praise on each person, because each one had quality worthy of winning. I'll be honest this came down to two choices for me Ericnilla and Scumdogg.

Airot, Sunday with Imaginary Friend
The quality on this one was great, I just have no idea what the holiday is. Being that this was a holiday contest, that hurt her chances.

ReccoomKaboom, Salvation Army Santa Claws
The angle was too much for me on this one. He could have painted the Mona Lisa, but the angle would have been too much.

Tortle, KISS Meets the Turduckendon
I have to give big credit for having a fun idea. This seems not too far off from something Kiss would be a part of. It was just that the layout didn't do much for me. This will sound pretentious, but I'll say it anyways because it's my feeling. The poster felt more like a copy instead of homage. I can't give an exact reason, but that was my reaction.

But at the end of the day I was really deciding between Ericnilla and Scumdogg. Both were fun and funny with a great look. But by a hair Scumdogg got my vote. I always seem to talk about the fluidity and motion in Scumdogg's pieces. In this case it was the difference maker. I felt Frosty was involved, the Madball had control, and that the kids were really running.

My vote is for Scumdogg, but everyone did an amazing job! Thank you all for participating, it really is one of my favorite parts of the board.

in response to veers: people been sayin' I was off-kilter for years. It was bound to show up in my work sooner or later. I think I'll do as many of my entries at 45degrees as I can from now on...

It's also a religious holiday. According to the bible you arent allowed to work on sunday or you go to hell, it's sacred because god rested on the 7th day after making the world.

You also get holiday pay if you do work.

I'm not religious so I don't go to church or anything, but I don't get to work on a sunday for the extra pay either, so I get to sit around at home and take a nap. Thats how I celebrate Sunday :starwars:

Saturday is the sabbath, not Sunday. Sunday is actually the first day of the week.

I wish we got extra pay on Sunday in the US. Here is it just another day of the week. :starwars:

Although I enjoyed all the entries, I went with Airot this time. The tone and values in the piece were pretty awesome, and I really liked the weird little gnome guy. I figured that this was how Airot celebrated the holidays... napping on the couch!

This is the closest voting in a poll in quite a while. Even though there have been over 20 votes, everyone is still very much in the race! :starwars:

According to wiki, 'In many Christian traditions (sunday) is the Christian Sabbath'.

There are two possible days for the sabbath. I've always considered it to be sunday, so sunday it is on my picture. Not like you couldn't just imagine it was a saturday nap instead.

Having it happen to this entry is strange though, and all i can justify it with is that not nearly enough people have seen KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. Which is a shame.

damn this one is getting close. out of the two front runners i really don't mind which one wins. i love both entries and the artists are friends of mine. but i'll never tell which one got my vote. :lol:
