The question for this tournament is, "Which is the overall better figure?"

Note: This tournament features many different types of figures, please consider the entirety of a figure (sculpt, detailing, materials, originality, etc.) when voting. Additionally we ask for understanding with the lack of consistent pictures. Do not dismiss a figure because of a poor picture. Please feel free to post a better picture of the figure you selected.

#2 – GPK - Brainy Janey

Not too keen on the GPK line - i loved the stickers and the cards when i was a kid and even now they are cool to look at as the details in the pictures and the artwork is excellenty. I feel this detail was somewhat lost when this line was translated into the toyline. I do like the idea of Garbage Pail Kid toys, but as they say themselves they do look cheap (and nasty, and i just don't like them - sorry all you GPK fans)

Dik dik, well i like this figure. I like his stance i like his ridiculous costume and i even like his dumbass expression on his face - stupid name too but all these elements combined make him an interesting figure.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

I think both of the figs are lame. I even collect the GPK cheaptoys. Where is my homie Graffiti Petey? :D
I still voted GPK since I have never even heard of this Dik Dik character. Not to mention he looks like a scared easter bunny :)

Oooh, my pick might actually win this time! I gave GPK a chance, but I don't find their molds aesthetically pleasing. This Dik Dik is one of the weaker UM sculpts, and I prefer them unpainted and fleshy, but it still wins.

Brainy Janey wins by instant default.

That UM character sucks. Everything about him sucks. He doesn't have one redeeming quality. The paint looks horrible, the concept is dumb, and the pose is horrible. He looks like someone, quite seriously, trying to learn some dance steps in a mirror. He might be .0001% better is he was unpainted, but he'd still have that "3. 4. 5. Kick"-pose.

The GPK is ok. These always look better in person. My main complaint is that they are smaller than you think and feel delicate, at least to me.

It seems like GPK's are getting knocked a bit. I have to say, they really aren't that bad. Overall they have pretty nice detail. I also don't know if Red is the best color.

And if nothing else, their collectors are hardcore - so it can't be a terrible LRG.

They both suck.

The GPK isn't much to look at and while dik dik has color, he's got the jazz hands going on and that's just gay.

yeah i like his crappy stance, it makes him look like he is about to get his balls booted by someone less girly - it's all about playability and you need weak and feeble characters to be pulverised by the big bad boys

Naw, Dik Dik is cool. He's guarding someone in a basketball game.

I actually like the flesh ones, they show the detail far better a whole flesh set would be cool, but i think there was only 20 sculpts was there not?? i dunno but over 100 GBK flesh sculpts i could be persuaded

i dont think that figure would look much better unpainted either.

the GPK is kinda plain, but to me an overall better sculpt.

I don't know about you guys, but dik-dik reminds me of elite beat agents, or king cosmos from katamari. And he's not a bunny, he's a 'dik-dik' which is a kind of gazelle or something.

Must. Defend. My. Beloved. GPKs.

No, GPK Cheap Toys will not do well in a picture-only tournament. Their sculpts, especially those of series one, are definitely not their strength. I'd be hard-pressed to make a good argument that any of the 1st series sculpts were "cool."

The strengths of GPK Cheap Toys are definitely their collectability (there are just the right amount of figures overall, some are harder to find then others making for a good challenge, but none are so rare that getting one is impossible), the texture of the plastic (particularly the "rubbery" figures), and their colors. I find it interesting that Veers feels red (actually commonly referred to as Neon Red or Neon Red-Orange) is not their best color, because Cheap Toys collectors who own all the colors typically consider NRO to be one of the nicest colors. And that makes sense because it is well documented that NRO looks drastically different when held in the hand. In fact, that's how the name Neon Red-Orange came to be. Many new collectors who owned NROs insisted that theirs were a different color than NROs they saw pictured on the interwebs. The reality is that the unique color of a NRO is difficult to capture in a picture.

Posted Image

Posted Image

They're incredibly pleasing to the eye. Being the owner of hundreds of figures from many different toy lines, I have to say that the GPK Cheap Toys color NRO is one of the most attractive I've ever seen.

I don't really care for either, and the GPK is pretty detailed in hand, Dik Dik is a weird character, and I didn't like him in the show either. But the GPK creeps me out with his nasty brain poking out. Dik Dik for the next round demise!

although you couldn't photograph a red (neon-red orange for soupie) gpk cheap toy and make it look detailed to save your life, i still had to vote for it. it may not be one of the stronger sculpts from the line or even one of the middle of the road characters. it's still head and shoulders above that damn dik. seriously, am i the only one who thinks it looks like ashton kutcher in a dumb costume making faces at himself and dancing in the mirror? i seriously want to punch this figure every time i see it. and if punching it would change anything, i may have done it a long time ago.

The first thing I thought of when I saw Dik-dik Van Dik, my first thought was "Holy shizznit, it's The Noid!
Posted Image

Understand, though, that this thought was processed immediately after I'd returned from a tiring road-trip, and before I'd read Airot's post. That figure then appeared to be the result of an attempt to cross-breed the Noid with an antelope gone horribly wrong. And his paint-job is almost tragic. And what's up with the expression on his face? It reminds me of that of a 7-year-old kid who just discovered Daddy's Playboy collection.

I had to go with the slightly better figure--Brainy Janey.
