Hello to old friends and new faces alike! Really want to get back into creating stuff, just seems there are always steps to take care of before, that and life keeps trying to get in the way, so here we are.
What brings me here this time around (admin feel free to remove if this isn't an appropriate use of the forum) anyhow, my brother's dog... she's really a part of the whole family, my mom brings her by most weeks to hang out and play with my dog. She also was the dog that worked her way into my dad's heart before he passed. He never was much for dogs, but after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's this girl wouldn't stop trying to get him to play and eventually won him over. She would tease him with a ball, bring it, set it down, then snatch it and run away just as he tried to grab it.
At some point she ate part of a stuffed toy that ended up stuck. Brother called as she was drinking water like mad, then throwing up... Long story short (too late).. the choice was emergency surgery, or put her down. My brother has no kids, and this girl is really like his kid, and she's pretty special to all of us. Surgery and hospital bills are pretty crushing and my daughter jumped on and started a GoFundMe campaign to try and ease some of the pain of that.
Surgery was pretty intense I guess. Had to remove like 50% of her intestines, and untwist the cloth from her stomach. She's recovering well, staying with my mom as that's the best place for recovery (no stairs or other animals) Currently requiring constant care, and has some neurological issues from the ordeal. Her head kinda tilts to one side, and seems like her equilibrium is off.
