Hi everyone,

Has any new information come out about the Star Jotun Trolls, as of the last 5 or so years? Any new examples surface?

I have read the various threads, but it appears it’s been a bit since the last update (maybe I missed it though).

What are the current thoughts on authenticity?

Thanks!

Michael

No updates that haven't been captured here on the site. I had chatted with a guy off and on years ago who claimed he had one and that it was somewhere at his parents house. But that never came to any conclusion.

Short version is we know two standard purple have been found. We know a neon red has been found and that seller claimed to have had a second neon red as a kid. Then there is the likely fake neon purple one with the melted on star.

Thanks for the reply -- I really appreciate it.

I find the purple/neon red ones especially interesting, as the common Jotun Trolls have that large flattened circular area on their back, which appears to match the size of the circle/star on the Star versions found & the Prima ad. I don't recall any other figure having a random flattened area on the back.

Is it possible these Star versions were produced prior to the regular releases, & then they altered the molds after the Stars were produced? In other words, is that flattened circular area actually the remnant of the circle that the Star sat within?

I know the style of the 20 varies between finds, so I assume there were different molds. It looked like one of the purples had an “a” on the bottom of the foot, while the neon red had a “b.” Not sure if that is correct, but that is what it looked like.

Just some thoughts. My apologies if these things have been discussed at length. I would love to find one of these!
