Welcome to the Poll thread for Fan Art Challenge TWENTY (LRG Headshots), in which we draw portraits. Portraits of LRGs, caricatures of the LRG mods AS LRGs, it's all fair game. Is is getting to be the case we've got another crazy-awesome lineup of art this month, so choose your vote wisely. This one could be close!

The poll will be open for seven days, and as usual a $10 LRG Store gift certificate and a custom-painted patch go to the winner. Good luck everyone!

Awesome enteries by everyone but this was the easiest vote I've had in about six months, something about Ericnillas' LRG Lucha Libre just grabbed my vote. His entery always seems to be in my top three or so for me but usally gets beaten out by somebody whos work is just a bit more fun for me. This time hands down my favorite pic.

Scumdogg's Joeeyeball masterpiece has zero votes!? Hwhat!? I voted for MMK's comic (had to, of course :() but how is that piece not getting any love? Ah, I shouldn't say that. 'Cause as I just said, I love that piece, but didn't vote for it. Same with all the other pieces too.

(At least we know Scummy doesn't vote for himself. Atta boy. ;) )

Hardly ever man. I insist on voting for what i feel is best, and this time around Eric's Lucha Libre poster definitely got my vote. I want one to hang on my wall.

I am indeed getting curbstomped this time around, but that's only because this board has such a crazy talent pool. No shame in getting beaten by work like this. ;)

My vote went to Reccoom Kaboom for his LRG CCG concept. I don't feel it was well resolved
but I am keen on alot of the elements and admire the effort that was put in. The Windigo portrait
was my favorite individual portrait ('this was well resolved', the details and colours chosen). I look
forward to see how this card game develops... Oh and of course the LRG member as a basketball
drinking beer, great surprise at the end! You deserve more votes.

The portrait theme in general seems to have been stretched to the extreme in this contest!
The LRG comic been on the very edge... but also funny, haha the thumbs up sailor.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

I remember thinking when these contests started that it was sort of a cute idea - a fun activity for the board. Today it feels like a full-blown art opening every month. The entries this month are amazing. I'm really impressed in the range of interpretations. Even more so because I feel they are all within the parameters of the contest. Choosing is going to be impossible.

Dankingery- Z.O.M.B.I.E. Self Portrait
Awesome. Just awesome. I went back to his profile picture just to see how close it was. Did he actually raise the eyebrow like in the picture? Happy accident or intentional, I loved it. I just loved a lot of the little details: the bone sticking out of the finger tip, the half-mustache, and the elbow sticking out. Plus the color choices are great.

DarrylWestley- Behemoth Portrait
I had to check out what this guy normally looks like. Wow. What really struck me about this piece was how Darryl was able to add depth to the look of the character without losing the "flatness" of the actual figure. I also like the unique color choice – different than any of the actual figures.

DarrylWestley- Jotun Troll Print
I recognize the technical ability here, but this just doesn't connect with me at all. It's nothing about the art or the artist.

Musclemenkids- LRG Comic
I loved this one. Funny, clever, unique, and painfully accurate. Here's what really impressed me most of all. Musclemenkids dialogue was funny, but the characteristics and traits of each person were captured even without the dialogue. You could have removed all the words and still identified each person on the board.

Ericnilla- Mods as LRGS
Ok, these are good – like always, but it is his other entry that deserves the attention.

Reccoom Kaboom- LRG CCG
I don't know the first thing about CCG's. But I know that I like this. All of the pictures are great (especially dankingery), but I wish Zuul was in color. I don't know if he was supposed to be a "sketch card," but he seemed out of place. It's a shame, because I think that's actually the strongest drawing.

Ericnilla- LRG Lucha Libre
Great idea, great look, and perhaps the biggest surprise – a colored piece from Eric. This strikes me as the world's best poster for a MUSCLE, Battle Beast, Lucha Libre fan. If I owned a bar I'd have a poster made up, burn an edge or two, drag it around outside and frame it up. Perhaps the most unique thing for me here is that I always praise Eric for his technical ability, but this one just seems fun. It's not devoid of the ability, it's just the first time I remember the fun-factor being the biggest contributor to Eric's work.

Scumdogg- Joe Eyeball
Ok, you got me. What is he from? Scumdogg's colors are always amazing. But this is what I enjoyed about this piece. It reminds me of the asshole who's always jumping into pictures. It's like Joe Eyeball's mom is trying to take a picture and Joe's buddy is racing into the picture – making both of them look stupid. One because it doesn't seem like he notices and the other because he's making a dumb face racing to get into frame.

So who gets my vote? Honestly my vote could go to any one of them (except the Jotun Troll and Mods as LRGs – not bad, they just didn't connect with me or compare to the artists' other entries). In the end I've got to go with Musclemenkids- LRG Comic.

I'm always a sucker for simplicity and fun, and this was overflowing with both. Plus it was a web comic that was actually funny.

Thank you to everyone for entering (that's what she said :) ), I am always blown away with the talent we have here.

first of all, thanks to veers for the praise. and i am always raising that eye brow, it's been a trademark of mine since i was a toddler. felt only natural to include it in the pic. this drawing turned out about as good as i could have hoped. i got bored in class while the instructor was droning on and on about code calculations for different buildings and scribbled something down in my notebook. then i just transferred it to a small sketch book and colored it. didn't spend much time on it and that seems to have paid off. might consider doing more of these small scale drawings for facs that permit small subject matter.

next i gotta thank darrylwestley for continuing to enter these contests. his style adds another dimension. his line work on his graphical entries is so clean and tight that you have to wonder if he's got laser eye transplants. i was a huge fan of the jotun troll head(s) shot when i first saw it. it's a sculpt that i never had but really want once i've officially started my mimp collection. i think veers and i are on opposite sides of the spectrum with darryl's entries though. where i loved the jotun troll piece and didn't really connect with the behemoth painting. also, this has nothing to do with the execution, because the execution is terrific. it has nothing to do with the composition's design either, because that's very interesting as well. my only problem with it is that it IS behemoth. the mimp design for behemoth is terrible. i've hated it before i ever saw the figure. when they were giving away mimp cards at 7-eleven it was the first card i got. lame. i know it's a very popular figure with a lot of people, i'm just not one of them.

what makes a great caricature? i think it's being able to recognize the subject instantly. when i first saw musclemenkids' entry i instantly laughed out loud at the veers drawing. it was brilliant! no one, from now until the end of time will be able to do a more accurate caricature of veers than that. then i read the damn thing. i think i peed a little i was laughing so hard. not only does it poke fun at members of the board and our never ending quest for answers to stupid questions, but it dredges up the horror of doc's ass. how many of us have been traumatized by that horrific pic of doc's pimply posterior? too many. one of my favorite things about it is that grand master of zombie slaying, me, going out in a blaze of glory. oh how great would it be to be killing zombies right now. i loved craig's entry. never ever stop entering brutha.

eric's head-shot entries were good. his poster was scary good. it looks like there was much more time put into this fac's entry than some of his previous ones. that was my only real criticism i had before on his work. he seemed to get something started and then never really developed it much further. the past few times though he's really been stepping up his game. this month is yet another triumph. the poster looks like something you'd see outside a "tourneo de luchadores" arena or something. loved it.

"hey, i know. there's an art contest this month, i think i'll enter it. hmmm, a regular old picture isn't ambitious enough. i think i'll start my own ccg AS my entry." dude, you must drive liz crazy sometimes. :o i have trouble scribbling out a small picture and you start card games. i think we both work roughly the same hours, yet you seem to not require any sleep. first of all, congratulations on once again surprising the hell out of me with a creative and fantastic new idea. with as creative as you are, and obviously smart, you should think about working in advertising or something else that requires you to constantly think out of the box. hell, i don't think you've ever even set foot in the box, you just used the box to inspire your oddbloks projects and then cast it aside because it was too plain. i must also praise you on drawing the world's most handsome basketball. that is one damn sexy piece of sporting equipment. :D

you know, if scumdogg wasn't so busy with a family and hanging out with all of us he would make an awesome illustrator. comic books, kids books, dinner menus, he'd make them all look awesome. joe eyeball is the first tmnt companion i got. he's awesome. scumdogg's drawing of him is spot on. and there isn't a single person in the world who can say he's not a master of colors. i think this may be his best color job to date. great work brutha man.

it really was a tough choice for me this month. i had a really hard time deciding who to vote for again. in the end i went with musclemenkid's comic. it was so much fun and devilishly simple and perfect that i just had to give it my vote. all of the entries were great, but this one was the most fun. and fun is what brings me here. well, fun and the free hookers.

What can I say Ericnilla's LRG Lucha Libre kicks ass! This almost got my vote. I still think Scumdogg needs to color it so I can use it as my Avatar. B) ;) :) But in the end I had to go for the LRG MOD mug shots Eric did. I just love that Johnny Look as Buffaloman and well who doesn't want to be Pirate Lion. :D

The other one that got my attention was Scumdogg's Joe Eyeball. I actually had this charater as a kid. It was well done and it gave him much props. That is as much as you can for being on someones back in a trash can.

Kudos everyone!!!

You know I thought and thought and thought. There were so many great entires, and MMK's comic was hilarious! And absolutely nobodies entries were lacking, All of them were good!

But I think Nostalgia kicked in and stole my heart this time around. I had Muckman and JoeEyeball when I was a kid, and still remember ripping him off of his card. I can even still smell the ooze he came with, and remember how cool it was when you poured it in the Trashcan with Joe and in Muckmans head. He had to be one of my Favorite figs at the time. And Joeeyeball was the best sidekick I had. So he gets my vote.

But again this was based on the nostalgia I got from Scums pic. If I could vote for all my favorites everyone would have gotten a vote. :)

Not on easy vote by any means. It took me three days to decide between all of these awesome entries. It's really amazing to see the range of styles, and interpretations. All of the entries are very well done, imaginative, and well executed, but in the end, I voted for Musclemenkids comic. It just slayed me. The drawings, fit the text, and the story meshed perfectly with the theme of the contest. Simply amazing.
Excellent work on all accounts, you guy's have really brought this section to an atmospheric level. Keep up the great work, your dedication, and hard work is most appreciated.

I try to keep as much variety as possible in my art styles and the supplies used, and Zuul was a different style than the others. I'm starting to think my range actually hurts me in these challenges.

I actually liked the different styles. It almost gave it a variety-of-artist feel, but what was used for Zuul?

And I don't think you range hurts you, but I do think your prolific ability does. I think when you put more out there you can run into a greater chance of people not connecting with the numerous parts. For example, your cubes from awhile back were awesome. Didn't you make almost a half-dozen of them? Even if people liked loved 5 out of 6, they could use the one they disliked as the tie-breaker issue between a couple pieces. Just a thought – and it's certainly not a suggestion for you to do less. I love seeing the absolute onslaught of art from you!
