Series 5: Super Creepies

Super Creepies were widely available in singles, 6 packs and 12 packs, and it was possible to get all 24 if you bought the two different 12 packs.
This is what I got, and just as with the dinos, I think this only represents a portion of what's out there:

I've got a pale green Horntail Moth #138, with red antennae, black eyes and brown abdomen, and a neon yellow Jumping Spider #123, with red rocketpack and green head with black eyes.
These were just about the coolest thing ever when they came out. Brilliant marketing - what do kids who like monsters also like? Bugs and other creepy-crawly thingies. I certainly did. They may not be the best-regarded series among collectors, but I've still got a soft spot for them.

I agree, this series never seems to get much recognition and its a bit of a shame really.

I was sorting through my collection today, and I was surprised to see we'd never had a thread on the forum dedicated to this bizarre and colourful series. Now these might not be the greatest MIMP out there, but they're a decent LRG series in their own right, and they deserve to be documented.

Although by the time these were released as a child my interest in MIMP was wavering.
I was a lover of insects and spiders so these were certainly interesting, I was very fond
of Astaroth from the previous series. If only they were slightly more rubbery!
I was considering having them on the www.monstercollecting.com
I shall take a group shot of my own collection to compare with yours Strontium Dog.
Few there of yours I have never seen before: Neon Yellow Bedbug, Ladybug with black
markings, Orange crabspider.
TwoHeadedBoy - Which 12 pack do you own? I have one of them, see photograph.
Wondered if you have the other would like to see photograph

Thinking of getting a full set of these pyramid packs, I now have both from Series 1, one Super Creepy, one Super Scary and a Space Aliens one. They're great!

#121 Tarantula - Orange
#125 Turret Spider - Green
#127 Soldier Beetle - Green/Yellow
#138 Horntail Moth - Green
And this establishes that every figure is available in at least two colour schemes.
I've got the green Scarface Scorpion now, funny that you don't have the orange one as in my experience, that's the commonest figure of the lot! I must have half a dozen of those in my trade pile
Also, if the pictures on the Super Creepies leaflet are reliable, there also exists a yellow Scarface Scorpion. That would make 60 known variants, 12 sculpts in two colours and 12 in three. I wonder if that's all of them?

I'd have got the orange scorpion by now but whenever I see one on ebay they are usually either in a silly high buy it now auction and I've got the rest of the figures or in a lot going for a high price thats the same. Kind of anoying really.

My God!!! Never seen so many paint variations on figures of this series! Guess I can almost see why Matchbox continued this pattern wid the dinos.Still collecting these! Up to 55 unique figures now, though still lacking the aforementioned green #138 Horntail Moth. Have yet to discover any figures in more than three colour schemes.

How on earth did you manage to acquire all these Strontium? I mean, can already plainly see the majority of 'em are from the 12-packs, but the others must be from either the single or 6-packs (which I consider to be exceptionally rare).
Anyone else here notice how scarce unopened super creepy 6-packs are on ebay these days? I've been lookin' out for some for ages now. Could say the same for the super scary packs too.
