The newest ROTS figures are beginning to show up on shelves, and I was lucky enough to snag a deluxe Yoda on Can-Cell yesterday.

While fighting around on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashykkk, Yoda gets to ride a Can-Cell - giant dragonfly. I don't know if he gets to ride it for an extended period of time, or if it's just a second or two. Still, this is a a big package for a deluxe figure - understand, this toy came in the normal blister pack. The Can-Cell's wings were detached, and its tail was tucked away. I'll explain just how big it is in a moment.

More than anything else, the Can-Cell is an examplke of why Star Wars fans suck. they have been screaming, crying, and cussing about how a giant dragonfly is "the new Jar Jar," "the death of the movie," and "proof that Lucas sucks ****." I'm sick of this stupidity. HELLO, PEOPLE. THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT ALIENS IN THE SERIES, INCLUDING MANY GIANT ANIMALS. SHUT UP ALREADY.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Sculpt:

Since Yoda is technically an accessory, I'll cover him in that category. Now, let's talk about the bug.

The first thing that I want to say is, this toy is huge. it's about 12" from head to tail and has a wingspan of 14". when packe dup oand on the pegs, the Can-Cell looks mall, but that's because the winbgs are detached and the bendable tail is folded under. This isnt a deluxe figure, it's a vehicle with a lower price point. As it is, its sculpt is really good - the Can-Cell is sleek and insectlike, with a nicely-detailed exoskeleton. it's smooth, rather than the usual wart-covered scaly giant insect that you tend to see in toylines like this. The head sculpt is particularly excellent, and manages to capture the mentality of this kind of insect. The Can-Cell's tail is long, ending in a nice little fan. its four wings are also great - although if you don't put them on correctly, they'll look funny. The Can-Cell's legs are capable of holding up its weight, although I do worry about them growing loose over time. overall, I'd say that this really isn't a goofy creature - it just looks like a giant dragonfly. if you remember, there were some large dragonflies way back when (although not this big), so this creature isn't entirely unrealistic.

Paint Job:

The Can-Cell's paint job is pretty unique - its body is mostly a burnt reddish-orange with a black paint wash, and its back and legs are purple. Its eyes are green, and there are also a few tan details here and there. Of course, the wings are transluscent.

Articulation:

The Can-Cell moves at the head, four of its six legs, wings, and its bendable tail. The leg articulation is ueful, but the wings don't have enough of a range of motion to be noticeable. it's not the most poseable bug in the world, but dragonflies aren't known for changing their basic positioning much.

Accessories:

The Can-Cell comes with Yoda and Yoda's Lightsaber. Yoda is an interesting sculpt - he's automatically seated with his legs crossed, and looks totally casual (except for the flaring cape behind him). He moves at the head, arms, and waist, which is pretty good for a little sitting vehicle pack-in. Yoda is sculpted and painted nicely, and could actually be used in a variety of situations - he plugs in nicely to a peg on the dragonfly's back. As for the lightsaber, it's nice and all, but it falls out of Yoda's hand too easily.

Pricing: $9.99 for a creature that would normally cost at least $15? That's a steal.

GOtGM (1-10): 3. If someone has a problem with insects, they won't like this figure.

Overall (1-5): 4.7. This is a really good deal for a deluxe figure - my only problem with it is that the leg joints might weaken over time. Still, if you've got the room to display it, do so!

Please forgive the terrible lighting. I'm beginning to consider taking toys to the office to photoraph them. the house just has bad lighting.

I used different lighting and the Flash to make the colors come out better.

By the way, unless I missed something, Yoda was not shown on the Can-Cell in ROTS! I noticed that a couple of wookiees were on them, but not Yoda as far as I can tell.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I guess this is because we're getting a Wookiee on a helicopter soon, and they didn't want to give us too many of the furry guys.
